Film as a Tool for Climate Awareness

Lights, Camera, Action! is a youth-focused film and climate activism project implemented by the Transylvanian Hungarian Films Association.

The project was created to give young people the tools, space, and confidence to express their views on climate issues through audiovisual storytelling.

We believe film is more than art or entertainment. It is a powerful language that can shape attitudes, raise awareness, and inspire responsibility. Through education, creative production, and public engagement, the project connected filmmaking with environmental consciousness and civic involvement.

Lights, Camera, Action! brought together students, young creators, educators, and film professionals to explore how local stories can contribute to global conversations about climate justice and sustainability.

Environmental Challenges in Harghita County

Harghita County, like many regions in Romania and across Europe, faces ongoing environmental challenges linked to human activity and land use. Forest cover loss, improper waste management and pressure on water ecosystems are issues that reflect wider national trends and affect local communities as well. At the same time, the region is home to valuable natural habitats and protected species, highlighting the importance of responsible environmental stewardship.
